Why In-Game Sensitivity Numbers Don't Transfer Between Games

Every FPS game applies its own internal scaling constant — called engineYaw — to your mouse input before calculating how far your view rotates. Valorant multiplies input by 0.07. CS2 multiplies by 0.022. Fortnite by 0.5709. These constants are hardcoded into each engine and bear no relationship to one another.

The result: a sensitivity of 1.0 in Valorant produces a view rotation approximately 3.18× faster than a sensitivity of 1.0 in CS2 at any DPI. The numbers look similar. The physical feel is completely different.

cm/360° — The Universal Sensitivity Standard

cm/360° (centimetres per full 360° rotation) measures how far your mouse physically travels to complete a full in-game rotation. Unlike raw sensitivity numbers, this figure is directly comparable across every game. At 800 DPI, a Valorant sensitivity of 0.4 requires approximately 40.8 cm of mouse travel per full rotation. The correct CS2 equivalent is 1.273 — which also requires 40.8 cm at 800 DPI. The number changes. The muscle memory does not.

How the Conversion Is Calculated

The formula is exact, not an approximation:

converted sensitivity = (your sensitivity × engineYaw_source) ÷ engineYaw_target

For Valorant (engineYaw 0.07) to CS2 (engineYaw 0.022): (0.4 × 0.07) ÷ 0.022 = 1.273. The engineYaw constants used here have been verified by the competitive FPS community through measured mouse input testing and are sourced from the same methodology used by every major sensitivity research project.

What This Calculator Does Not Cover

This tool converts hipfire sensitivity — your rotation speed when you are not aiming down sights. ADS, scoped, and zoom sensitivities are governed by separate per-game multipliers and are outside the scope of this calculator. Always verify converted values in-game before competitive play.
